Zoë Day is a professional artist and published illustrator. She studied art at Nene College in Northampton and then fashion and textiles at Nottingham Trent University. In pursuit of knowledge, Zoë has furthered her skills studying with BP award winner Alan Ramsey at the Heatherleys school of Art in Chelsea, anatomy with Dr Sarah Simbet at the Ruskin School of Art in Oxford and figure drawing with the Florence academy and internationally renowned artist Toby Wright.

Zoë co-owns Buckingham Art School with friend and fellow artist Debs Last. The school has over 120 students a week teaching a variety of classes from portraiture and life drawing through to A levels.

Fairy Tale Series 2014-2015
In 2014 Zoe began a series of fairytale self-portraits. Each was created to capture a moment in time over the period of an emotional year - there are 12 in total. Every work was produced in one session, painting continuously and sometimes furiously into the night in complete silence. 'I had stories to tell and I wanted to share them.'

Abstract Work 2016
Following a the series of expressive self-portraits, she is now exploring the world of abstract expressionism, inspired by music. The work has a a Jewel-like quality as she uses the finest pigments and mediums to best effect. Having spent most of  her life creating, studying or teaching figurative art, it is only now that she feels qualified to explore the world of abstraction with integrity. In the same way that an experienced musician can only play Jazz and compose new music when he has truly mastered his instrument, She is attempting new works without a physical reference point. Her starting point is more often a piece of music or a feeling which she then focuses on expressing in colour, texture, line and form. It is a wonderful experience, which she hopes shows through in the works.

Her paintings are on display at her studio / gallery, next to Stowe Castle in the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside.
